Ten Commandments for Ambassadors

Print This Page
  1. Thou shalt not expect to find things as thou has them at home, for thou left home to find them different.

  2. Thou shalt not take anything too seriously, for a carefree mind is the beginning of a joyful experience.

  3. Thou shalt not let other Ambassadors get on thy nerves, for thou art paying good money to have a good time.

  4. Thou shalt remember thy passport and knowest where it is all times, for a person without a passport is a person without a country.

  5. Thou shalt learn to make change in any currency, for lo, thou shalt not be cheated.

  6. Thou shalt learn to say 'thank you' in any language, for lo, thou shalt be welcome to return.

  7. Thou shalt not worry, for who worrieth hath no pleasure and few things are ever fatal.

  8. Thou shalt, when an Ambassador, do as thy hosts do.

  9. Thou shalt not judge the people of a country by one disagreeable person lest thou country be so judged.

  10. Thou shalt remember thou art a guest in another land; yea, who treateth one's host with respect shall be an honored guest.
