Details:
Our July event will be at The Banning Museum in Wilmington. We will have a private tour of this historic building. Afterwards, we can sit in the adjoining Rose Garden to visit.
Our tour starts at 1:00 p.m. So please plan to arrive early, park and be at the museum by 12:45 p.m. The museum tour will last about 1 hour and 15 minutes.
Please bring your own light snack and beverage. If you like, you can bring something to share with the group. There are only benches, no tables, so food should be kept simple. You also might want to bring a comfortable folding chair. We hope to be sitting in the Rose Garden shade. Leave your snack and drink (in a cooler) and chair in your car while we are on the tour.
Here is a little info on the museum and the link is also below:
The Banning Museum. Phineas Banning—entrepreneur, the founder of the city of Wilmington, and “the Father of the Port of Los Angeles”—built the 23-room residence in 1864. Subsequent generations lived in it until 1925; in 1927 the residence, stagecoach barn, and the surrounding 20 acres of parkland were acquired by the City of Los Angeles. The Banning Museum engages visitors in a living history experience, showing how the family lived, worked, and entertained.
